FAQs

PRODUCT CARE & MATERIALS

What are our materials:

Gold Vermeil

Louise James The Label pieces are all produced in 18ct or 14ct gold-plated sterling silver with a layer of gold in a 2.5 micron. Gold vermeil (pronounced ver-may) is a much thicker layer of gold which gives the pieces their long-lasting colour and durability.

Cubic Zirconia Gemstone

Zircon is durable enough for regular wear and because of its relative affordability it makes for excellent day to day jewellery, without fear of chipping.

Freshwater Pearls

To maintain the quality of freshwater pearls, ensure they are put away in your LJ pouch or box. They are a very soft gemstone and when looked after properly they will maintain their radiance over time

How should I take care for my LJ jewellery?

Before exercising or showering, remove your vermeil jewellery. Clean your piece by buffing gently with a dry cloth and sore it in your LJ box or pouch.

Please remove your jewellery while exercising, showering, and swimming.  Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions and hair products.  Even natural ones.

Do not use harsh chemicals, bleach, oil, jewellery cleaners or polishing cloths, this can affect the finish.

Take care to avoid extreme humidity and heat as this may cause tarnishing.

Your jewellery is susceptible to damage from the effects of chemicals in perfume, hairspray, makeup, nail polish remover, body oils, sunscreen, and deodorant.

Always remember that your jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off when dressing.

What can tarnish my jewellery?

Do not swim or shower while wearing gold plated jewellery and remove rings when washing your hands. Chlorine, fresh water and salt water can damage your precious gemstones by dulling or eroding them.
